Learning to Skateboard – Easy Or Difficult?
Many young people ask themselves a question: is skateboarding difficult? In my opinion, there is no one exact answer for all the people. Many different factors affect the overall effect and it’s an individual case whether we can say “I have talent to do this” or “It’s not that simple”.
First of all, the general physical fitness should be taken into consideration. I think it’s clear that an obese boy or girl won’t be able to ride a few meters on a skateboard. If you think your condition is not at least average, then you have to make some effort. Go to a gym, visit a nearby swimming pool for a few times or start jogging. Training and learning new skateboarding tricks is much easier when you weigh a few pounds less.
Secondly, there is a matter of who or what is teaching you. It doesn’t have to be a person. You can learn yourself from a professional guide, by watching videos on YouTube or just by a simple method of trying. There is also a possibility of direct contact with other skateboarders who have more experience. All the methods have their pros and cons. If you buy a guide, you can follow the tips and advice at your own pace. Individualists and people who organize their time themselves would appreciate it. Online videos may be very helpful but many of them are amateur level. However, there are some pearls, which can be very useful because of an author’s professional attempt. The method of trial and error is probably the worst and the longest one. Don’t try it, if you don’t want to waste your time. Finding fellow skateboarders is a nice idea. Apart from gaining new friends you can also omit their mistakes. Becoming engaged in a skateboarding society is another reason to take a closer look at it.
The next thing is motivation. Without it your effort will be pointless. Think about it: you fall down again and again. Kickflip, backflip, pop shuvit – you can not perform any trick. Why would anyone continue? Fortunately, it’s just a vision. You have to know that every positive and negative moments are worth your pain and it will all pay off in the future. If your will is strong enough, then the effects will come sooner than you think.
What about danger? Indeed, there are accidents and injuries. However, it’s easy to reduce the risk. Just wear protecting accessories like helmet, be careful and that’s it. You can do nothing more. Of course, you can jump out of a plane, which could provoke unwanted effects, but that’s something everyone has to decide on himself.
To sum up, learning how to skateboard is quite an individual case. It depends on your physical and mental health, the way you train, source of your knowledge and whether you are motivated enough. Remember, nothing is impossible. Unless you give it a try you will never discover your destiny.
